Painting with acrylic on wood instead of paper allowed for a more dexterous handling of the pieces, to scrape into and sand, as well as to glaze, layer collage elements, use stamping and pens, and so on. Many “tools” other than paintbrushes were used, which takes the controlled hand out of it and makes it WAY MORE FUN!
Painting in multiples was also new to me and kept the process fresh and exciting as I “bring up all the children with equal attention”. During the process, rather than planning ahead with adetermined result, I respond to what is showing itself with each pass, becoming more and more refined, until the painting says, “I’M DONE!”.
